Vancouver 2010

In honour of the upcoming Winter Olympics in my favourite city in the entire world ... I have compiled a series of Vancouver/Canada/BC-loving cards to express not only my joy at their coming, but the entire city's!

These kinds of cards are everywhere, and being a die-hard fan of both Vancouver and the Olympics, I think it's marvelous. Vancouver is wonderful and everyone should know that--so what better way to spread the Vancouver-love than to send someone a card? So that's exactly what I did. :) The last one (which didn't scan very well because of the pin, sorry :S), is also from the Regional Assembly of Text, which I am definitely going to have to hit up sometime--soon!

A Very Belated Happy New Year

Very sorry for the inattentiveness... but I hope that everyone had a good start to 2010! I mean, I certainly did ...

...mostly because it began with a BANG in NYC! I seem to be there a lot these days, and let's be truthful... I love it. I really used to think that New York was only second best to London, but I am starting to realise they are not competing with one another--they are just beautifully, wonderfully different.

Especially when it comes to museums. I adore the British Museum, but the Met is undeniably incredible in its own right. Plus, they both have really good postcards, right?

Well ... there's a brief snippet of my hiatus in New York. I'll keep the cards coming, I promise--especially since there's another big, commercialised card holiday up and coming: Valentine's Day.

Sealed with love...

Anyone, anywhere can fire off an email, send a fax or post something on your facebook wall. It takes a grand total of two and a half seconds--some text, the click of a button, and you're done. Instant communication, lost in the abyss of cyberspace--hardly what you would call an expression of love. With the advent of internet, yes, it's tragic, but true--we have almost lost the beautiful permanence of letter writing. Sure, it's slower and it's more tedious than sending an e-card, but it's the effort involved that makes cards, letters, notes in the mail expressions of love; because in taking the time to choose your stationary, write your note, enclose a photo or magazine article, and deliver it to a mail box or post office--you've just proven the depth and beauty of snail mail. You've just told someone, through your actions alone, that you love them.

You love cards. I love cards. We all love cards.

It's a reciprocal business, sending cards, letters, postcards, packages, flying elephants (ok, probably not the flying elephants, but if you do happen to find one, you should drop me a line). And so card-sharing should be a reciprocal business, too! Send me cards, letters, cool stationery, tidbits of mail--anything wonderful and whimsical that goes or comes in the mail. Scan it, add a little blurb telling us what it's all about--why it's special, why it's cute, why you love it, why we should love it--send it (sadly via email: cooper22722@yahoo.ca) and I'll post it.
