I am determined to keep the art of letter writing alive. I swear I'll do it single-handedly, if I have to. But even I recognize this is a lot of work--these days, it's a struggle to fill an entire letter with the events and thoughts of our lives--for the most part we're constantly sharing them with each other anyways through the internet. So, at the very least, I try to commit to card-writing. On some levels I think cards are even more fun than letters (if not as romantic and historical) because you can tailor them so specifically to the receiver. I can spend hours wandering around a shop, picking out cards for this person and that person. Honestly, it's the best part of living apart from all your friends. And I figure, the more cards you send, the more you're likely to receive. And who doesn't love getting mail?
Here are a couple of cards my friend sent me in the mail a little while ago. They're the only ones I have scanned for the moment, but they some of my favourites anyways! I love these cards--I've no idea who exactly makes them, but they are so girly and wonderful!
Whimsical. This is the perfect word for them. And for a cock-eyed dreamer like myself, they're perfect. I have some more lying around somewhere, unsent as of now, but I am working on it! I will have to scan them, and find out who makes them...
... so for now, I'll just keep on dreaming of mermaids and motorcycles, meeting a man who can dance, and as always, of neatly packaged envelopes--sealed with love.
